Job interview: Reflection

I am writing this back at a café near Boudha Stupa. It all happened yesterday.

I was given an assessment for a real job advertisement for Management Investigation and Recruitment Report course, with interested industry. The industry I choose was music industry. I had difficulty while looking for the job, but finally I found a vacancy in sonic fuel studios in LA west side for the post of a studio manager which was posted online in a job search website. Then according to my date of interview I had to give an interview.

The interview day:
I was confident about my preparation for the interview. The confidence in my face and with proper attire I headed to my interview. The interview began at 12.15 pm. The starting of my interview went good enough with some information about me. I explained everything about why I choose this industry and why it suits me the most. Then came the awkward part where I was asked about the job requirement and I was totally empty and couldn’t recall the requirements. I felt really embarrassed. But I was comfortable while answering the questions related to the music industry.Again I was bit confused when asked about how you will sustain yourliving working in a foreign country, with a minimal salary. Since, I had very less idea about the living standard of the country. I started being nervous and my voice paused in every answer. Eventually I gained my confidence when I was asked about my competencies. All the skills that I had regarding the music industry were presented properly. And I concluded my interview with all the musical performance that I had done till date.

Overall, my interview went ok. I had much more expectation from myself but it dint turn out as good as I had thought it would be. Though, it was a good experience being interviewed professionally. Moreover, in the end the interviewer gave me her feedback on the overall performance of my interview. From which I came to know that if I had done much more research about the company and the living standard of the location my interview would have been good enough. And even I learned a lot more about interviews, how it’s conducted and how should it go. Basically, the main points that I learned are:

·         Good research about the company is a must.
  •  The entire document presented should be up to date and well managed.
  • Controlling the interview environment by self and not being controlled by the interviewer is a plus factor for a better interview result.
  • Being confidence and how we carry out throughout the interview process plays a vital role.

So, with this experience I believe in coming future it will be a great help for me. With all these important facts and ideas that I have gained from this interview I am looking forward for a next interview where I could apply all these factors and impress the interviewer.

Gap Analaysis ( Linkedin)

After viewing the profiles of both the Personnel in LinkedIn,
  •  Gregory Hinde (Title and Score Composer at Agaram Animation Studio. Greater Los Angels Area

I found out several differences between their profile and mine. Following are some of the differences I found after doing a Gap Analysis of their profile and mine.
